From Madisonville Community College…MCC would like to extend sincere thanks to everyone at Muhlenberg County High School for their hospitality during our accreditation site visit. The dedication of your faculty and staff, along with the energy and character of your students, made a great impression on the visiting team. It was evident to them that a great deal of care goes into creating a supportive and welcoming school environment. They were especially impressed with the Health Sciences equipment and with Ms. Kirby’s English class. Thank you again for everything. Please share our appreciation with everyone who contributed, and we wish the entire Muhlenberg County High School community continued success in the year ahead.
I “caught” our Assistant Principal helping clean the lunchroom. It isn’t too often you see your administrator doing something like this. She is wonderful and always pitching in to help wherever needed!
We have been intentional about sending home Good News cards this year. Most of our students have never received positive notes home. One of our students said to one of our teachers, "I was so excited when I saw your name in my mailbox!"
From a community member and weekly reader…Thanks for the views shared by parents, students, and others about the great things going on that are never reported.
I gave our 4th graders a challenge: our farmer needed a new barn! The barn needed a roof, a working gate, and a light so the farmer could still see inside at night. Our 4th graders absolutely exceeded my expectations! They took what they have been learning about circuits and electricity and applied it to their own barn designs. Using the circuits and light bulbs from the Paxton Patterson lab, they wired their barns to create a real working light, just like an electrician would in a real building. These labs are so awesome because our students weren't just learning about circuits by completing a worksheet. They were designing, building, wiring, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and applying their learning to a real-world challenge while connecting it to agriculture and a potential career. Our students are absolutely loving these labs, and they are making such a huge difference in the way our students are learning.
I am so excited to share the buzz going around Muhlenberg County Schools. Students, staff and administrators are learning American sign language to communicate with the students here in Muhlenberg County. It's amazing to watch their excitement while they independently learn and immediately use what they have learned to communicate. Whether they learn from a book, a computer or a community class it all makes a difference. Watching them learn, connect, and communicate and seeing how happy it makes their hearts is amazing. It is so evident that creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and understood makes a difference. I'm proud to see our schools and community coming together to make sure everyone has a voice and a way to connect.
Kids are still excited about reading books this week. You can see it when they pick out a new one in the library and hear it when they talk about a character or a chapter they just finished. Some are even asking to read during extra minutes in class. That kind of interest is good news for all of us.
We had a lot of volunteers from the central office today for Better Together Day. They helped in classrooms, worked with small groups, and jumped in wherever they were needed. Extra hands made the day run smoother. It was good to have them here with us.
Staff have been helping each other get through the week. Teachers have covered a duty, shared materials, and checked on the classroom next door. When someone needed a hand, another person stepped in. That kind of teamwork makes a real difference.
The building has had a good feel to it this week. Morning arrival has gone smoothly, kids have been engaged in class, and specials have had a good energy. Staff have stayed steady through it all. That is worth noticing and saying out loud.
Students were able to see farm animals and farm equipment on the last day of Ag Day.
At the Renaissance Center, we had 100% student and staff attendance on Tuesday and 100% student attendance on Wednesday. Our 10th, 11th and 12th grade MOVE students were in the building this week working on Xello. We had excellent attendance with them as well.
