Muhlenberg County Middle School had four students make KYACDA all state chorus! Those students are Kinley Luckett, Claire Wright, Lyric Huddleston, and Caylee Likens. These four ladies did an amazing job and auditioned along with over 2,000 students from the state of Kentucky and were chosen to be in this choir of 200. Way to go ladies! They will be participating in the event November 4th and 5th with the final performance on the 5th at the Singletary Center in Lexington.
From a staff member’s resignation…During my time I have witnessed something that I believe deserves recognition. The employees of Muhlenberg County Schools are truly remarkable. They give their time, energy, talents, and often so much more than their positions require because they genuinely care about the students they serve. Their dedication extends far beyond the hours on a timesheet or the responsibilities listed in a job description. I have been proud to work alongside these individuals, and I sincerely hope the district continues finding ways to recognize, support, and retain the people who give so much of themselves to our schools. I believe in this district, its employees, and the incredible potential of the students who walk through its doors every day.
I just wanted to tell you all about a proud mama moment I had this weekend. My daughter came in and proudly announced she finished her Baby Sitters Little Sister graphic novel she bought at the bookfair on Tuesday. She has read it all on her own!!! Due to her visual stress, the graphic novel being broken into chunks helps her track the words easier. I know she still has lots of room for growth, but I can't thank you guys enough for recognizing her areas of need and pouring into her. Her confidence for reading has grown and she is learning the strategies that help her feel successful. I can't wait to see how much more she grows this year!
I just wanted to let you know as a parent, our preschools are really trying at incorporating conscious discipline and talking to the parents which will only benefit the plans that you've got for the students k through 12. I know you all don't get the option to hear much about the good, so I want to make sure that I voiced it.
A 4th grade student wasn’t able to make a poster for 4-H. Another student in the class brought her a poster so she could still run for office.
Our first staff costume competition was a lot of fun. Every team took part, and the students enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up.
A 2nd grader was a little nervous about sharing her writing project. A couple of classmates quietly encouraged her, and she finished reading it with a smile.
A student used his AAC device to lead our school in the Pledge of Allegiance during our assembly this morning. It was a special moment and I'm proud of him for being a leader in front of such a large audience.
This week while I was on a field trip, I had an adult compliment those who work at Longest and expressed their gratitude for everyone that has poured into her grandchild. They said school has been the best thing for them and it’s because of everyone who has worked with this student.
After a field trip, a student said, “This is the best day of my life!”
