From a parent and future educator…I have been completing college observations and preparing to student teach over the past several weeks. After spending time with educators throughout our district, I have become even more excited to step into the field. Muhlenberg County is filled with so many bright, respectful students, and the teachers truly care about their students and have been extremely helpful in mentoring me on my journey! I'm proud to be a part of the Muhlenberg County school district! As a parent of two students in the county as well, my children have had an awesome transition with the new admin and teachers at Longest Elementary. They are off to a great school year thanks to their wonderful kindergarten and fifth grade teachers!
I wanted to take a moment to brag on our maintenance team. They have been working hard at our school to finish several ongoing projects, and we truly appreciate their efforts. They have also done a great job communicating their progress and keeping us in the loop. Thank you for your hard work and continued support of our school!
Our 4th graders are collaborating with high school engineering students. The older kids are teaching, and the younger ones are learning and having fun working together.
Students are logging their reading minutes and going way past the goal. They are excited about reading and talking about the books they are interested in.
The mentor program is off to a strong start. Kids and their mentors are already building real relationships and looking forward to seeing each other.
The fire department came out and talked safety with our K-2 students. It was a good visit that shows how much our community cares about the kids.
Teachers and staff are seeing more kids smiling, helping each other, and wanting to be at school. The positive energy is growing every day.
Students in Mrs. Thompson’s Engineering 2 class are collaborating with the 4th graders at Greenville Elementary to design a miniature golf hole. Today, the students decided on a theme for their golf hole as well as four decorative elements and three obstacles. The high schoolers will then build the courses and take them back to the elementary school to program robots to get a Hole in One!
I had a substitute teacher stop me this week to tell me how much she loves coming to the high school because she feels so welcomed and like she is one of the staculty.
We had a few staculty members who had a tough week, and it was truly a blessing to see colleagues step up to help, encourage, and support each other. We are a family!
We are super proud of the Lady Mustangs soccer team who won the District Champions title and have already made it to the second round of the region tournament!
Vicki Yonts has started a reading challenge with our students. She has started a library and talked to our students about the challenge. Our students are reading! It is so good to see!
At one of our exit meetings this week, we had a parent compliment Mrs. Franklin. She was so appreciative of the attention and relationship Mrs. Franklin had built with her son.
